I was approached by a woman at an artisan market who told me she had given up on candles because they never burned right for her. Her top complaints were that her cat always knocks them over and they always burn down in a circle and then the wax ruins the wick. She especially didn't like the candle that she bought in Newport in that XYZ shop because of the way it burned.
Where to start.... There are definitely hurricane vases and heavier containers that you can use to protect the candle AND the cat. Regarding the candle burning, a candle is unfortunately another thing to take care of. A candle requires minimal care to burn efficiently but there are still several tips that will keep your candle in tip top shape. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER so my fancy acronym for the day is FTR (For The Record OR First burn, Trim it, & Rotate)
For the record, every now and then I still make these mistakes when burning my candles but I know what to do next time to have a different outcome. :-D
YES, YES, and YES!!
I've been out and about with my husband at a couple of summer artisan markets lately and this was a common question among shoppers. It seems that word has traveled that soy candles are advantageous but most people aren't sure exactly why. Below are my top THREE reasons for using soy in candles. There are many others but I think these three take the cake. My handy acronym is NAC (Natural, American Made, and Clean)
